Prayer

There’s only one thing more exciting than seeing God working and that’s when he allows us share in what he is doing. That’s part of the thrill of seeing answers to prayer. One of the marks of a healthy, growing church is that it is energized by faith. Faith is exercised and grows in prayer. St George’s is blessed with many members who pray faithfully for our life together.

“Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God"

Our Clergy and Prayer Ministry Team offer prayers and ministry to those who need it. We consider that nothing is too small or trivial to pray about.

We have a prayer ministry group which offers prayer during Holy Communion at 10:00am on Sundays, after the service and at other times by request.

We also have a  confidential prayer circle where messages are passed to individuals who then pray regularly  in their own homes.

We have Prayer Space where we come together for half an hour to pray for our church, our community and one another. All are welcome. Our Prayer Co-ordinator is Rachel Neal.

Pastoral Care

Jesus told Peter, in John 21, to feed his sheep. This commandment applies to every church leader, and at St George’s we are no different. As a leadership team, we are committed to caring for, and discipling, the church community.

“Love your neighbour as yourself.”

This is a role that we take extremely seriously, because we love each and every member of the church which is why we have Hilary Buckley as our Pastoral Care Co-ordinator.

Home Groups

Discipleship and fellowship are vital to healthy, growing churches. Discipleship is learning about God and working out what that means to what we do in practice. Fellowship is
supporting and encouraging each other in following God – including having fun! Home groups can be very helpful in developing these activities.

"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them".

A typical home group meeting may involve watching a short video or listening to a CD on a particular theme, followed by a discussion around the topics or questions provided. That might be followed by informal prayer and conclude with tea and coffee. The groups are meant to be relatively small. They vary in where and when they meet and in what they choose to think about. They could have been called discovery groups – discovering more about God and each other. They are not academic. Clare Steel has taken on the role of Home Group Coordinator.
